BRS Has No Right To Talk About Krishna Water Issue: Vakiti Srihari
Vakiti Srihari also stated that the Congress government will present all facts and documents in the Assembly and expose how the BRS had neglected Telangana’s interests on Krishna and Godavari River water sharing.
Mahabubnagar: Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry Vakiti Srihari said that the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party has no moral right to talk about the Krishna River water issue.
The remarks came during a review meeting with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Congress MLAs from undivided Mahbubnagar district on issues related to the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) on Monday. The Minister said that the Congress government is committed to protecting Telangana’s share of river waters.
He said that during the 10 years of BRS rule, the party had compromised on Telangana’s rights over the Krishna River water allocation. He alleged that the BRS government had agreed to give 512 TMC ft of Krishna water to Andhra Pradesh and took only 299 TMC ft for Telangana.
The Minister also criticised that the previous BRS government did not complete any major irrigation projects in south Telangana and instead signed agreements that harmed the state’s interests.
Vakiti Srihari also stated that the Congress government will present all facts and documents in the Assembly and expose how the BRS had neglected Telangana’s interests on Krishna and Godavari River water sharing. He added that staying away from Assembly discussions and doing politics outside was an attempt by the BRS to hide its own failures.
