BRS Demands Restart of Urea Sales
BRS MLA T. Harish Rao said the government had “imposed an unofficial ban on urea sales. This is a completely anti-farmer decision

HYDERABAD: The BRS on Tuesday demanded that the government immediately lift the “ban” on sales of urea in the state and charged the Congress government of being “anti-farmer.” In a statement, BRS Assembly deputy floor leader, T. Harish Rao said the government had “imposed an unofficial ban on urea sales. This is a completely anti-farmer decision.”
Such restrictions were never seen in the state’s history, he said, alleging that the ban began only after the Congress government came to power. “The government must explain why oral instructions were issued to stop urea sales,” he demanded.
He said farmers cultivating sugarcane, fruits, and vegetables are facing severe difficulties due to the halt in urea supply. “They still need the fertilizer. Instead of ensuring availability, the government has made things worse. Even the app introduced for fertiliser distribution has become a burden for farmers,” he said.
He also criticised the government for promoting reduced urea usage through campaigns instead of ensuring supply.
