BRS, Congress Workers Clash over Protocol Row in Siddipet

Siddipet: Tensions flared during an official programme in Siddipet on Tuesday when BRS activists raised slogans over an alleged protocol violation. The incident occurred in the presence of labour, employment, and mines minister G. Vivek Venkata Swamy at the district integrated offices complex.
The minister had attended the event as chief guest to distribute new ration cards to beneficiaries. Also present were Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao, Dubbak MLA K. Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Yadav Reddy, district collector K. Hymavathi, SC/ST Commission state chairman Bakki Venkataiah, and other officials.
BRS activists protested that MLA K. Prabhakar Reddy’s photograph was missing from the programme’s flex banners. Congress activists responded with counter slogans, leading to a disruption of the event. Minister Vivek, Collector Hymavathi, and police officials intervened to pacify both groups, and the programme resumed.
Speaking at the event, The minister said the state government has decided to issue 20 lakh new ration cards across Telangana. He assured that beneficiaries will not only receive high-quality rice but also become eligible for a range of government schemes.
He added that the state is spending Rs 9,000 crore to supply fine-quality rice. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is committed to fulfilling all electoral promises under the Praja Palana initiative, the minister said.
