BRS, Cong. Clash Over Protocol Row In Sircilla

During the Indiramma houses documents distribution programme in Sircilla town, BRS town president Chakrapani and other party leaders confronted officials over the missing KTR photo. Police intervened and took the BRS leaders into custody.

KARIMNAGAR: Tension prevailed in Sircilla for a brief while on Monday when BRS leaders blocked Congress leaders who attempted to enter the camp office of former minister and BRS MLA K. T. Rama Rao carrying a photo of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The confrontation arose because no photo of the CM was displayed at the camp office.

Of late, BRS leaders have protested at various locations over the absence of KTR’s photo at official government events. They questioned officials for not displaying his picture at a paddy purchasing centre in Gambhiraopet mandal.

The BRS has since announced plans to file a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, alleging protocol violations in the Sircilla Assembly Constituency. On Monday, when Congress leaders tried to enter the MLA camp office with the CM’s photo, a heated argument broke out between the two parties. The situation escalated into a clash, prompting police to intervene with a lathi charge and shifting the Congress leaders to the police station.

In protest against the police action, BRS leaders staged a dharna outside the MLA camp office and held a rasta roko. BRS senior leader and former MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar condemned the Congress for attacking the MLA camp office. He accused the Congress party of resorting to "cheap politics" due to their failure to fulfil promises.

He also criticised the police for charging BRS leaders instead of controlling the Congress activists, calling it unfair. “The people understand that Congress has failed to deliver on its promises. This diversionary politics is an attempt to distract the public from the real issues,” he alleged.
