BRS alleges Rs 10,000-crore land scam relating to Kancha Gachibowli’s 400 acres

Hyderabad:The BRS on Saturday doubled down on its allegations of a Rs 10,000-crore land scam relating to Kancha Gachibowli’s 400 acres, with party working president K.T. Rama Rao demanding that the Congress government make public all land transaction-related documents and clarify its role in mortgaging forest land to raise funds.

Rama Rao, speaking at a party meeting in Karimnagar, accused the Congress government of engaging in dubious land transactions, including mortgaging “400 acres of forest land belonging to University of Hyderabad”, and diverting public resources to benefit private brokers and corporations.

“The PCC president himself admitted that money was raised by pledging university land, which confirms what we had revealed,” Rama Rao said. “But while one part of the government says this, another says something entirely different. The people deserve to know the truth — was the land mortgaged, sold, auctioned, or illegally allotted?”

Rama Rao demanded a transparent explanation on the status of these land parcels, questioning whether “they had been converted into real estate plots and distributed to private beneficiaries through backdoor channels”. “The land was secretly allocated to a firm named Beacon. I have made all related documents public. If the government claims these are false, let it present its own proof,” he said.

Rama Rao alleged there was an “unusual payment of `170 crore in commission for a `10,000-crore loan deal” and asked, “Where else in the country have we seen such huge commissions in government deals? What are they hiding?”

He ridiculed the use of bulldozers on public land, saying, “if the government really owns this land, why are they resorting to clandestine operations using JCBs?”
