Bridal Wear Store Fined for Wastewater Discharge

A bridal wear store in Banjara Hills was fined ₹15,000 after dirty water from sump cleaning was discharged directly onto the road, choking the drainage system and causing inconvenience to residents for a day.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) officials imposed the penalty on Aisha Rao Bridal Wear, under the management of K. Swaroop Kumar Reddy, at Venkateshwara Colony ward on Road No. 10, Banjara Hills, in Jubilee Hills circle.

According to the Water Board, the establishment had engaged a private agency to clean its sump. The wastewater generated during the work was pumped directly onto the road instead of being disposed of appropriately. Officials said this resulted in a drainage blockage that persisted for a day and caused severe inconvenience to people in the area.

Following a complaint, Water Board officials inspected the location and seized the dewatering submersible pump set used during the sump cleaning operation.

Officials also counselled representatives of the establishment and the private agency on proper disposal of wastewater. They were instructed not to discharge dirty water onto roads during future cleaning operations and to comply with Water Board regulations.

The Board warned that stricter action would follow if such violations were repeated. Officials said discharge of wastewater onto public roads and actions that obstruct the drainage network would not be tolerated.
