Boxer Booked for Promoting Unauthorised Fight Event
The content advertised the programme despite organisers lacking approval from the concerned authorities.

Hyderabad:Malkajgiri Cyber Crime Police have registered a case against boxer and fight club operator Purvik Munugapati for promoting an unauthorised fighting event through a social media reel, days after he was booked in a separate case by Saroornagar police for conducting a similar event without permission. Attempts to reach Cybercrime ACP Shiva Shankar for comment went in vain.
The latest case was filed after officials noticed a reel circulating online promoting the second episode of an underground‑style fighting event. The content advertised the programme despite organisers lacking approval from the concerned authorities.
The development follows an earlier case registered by Saroornagar police on June 10, when Purvik organised the first episode of the fight event in the cellar of a mall without prior permission. He was detained and issued notices under BNS section 223 in a suo motu case.
Purvik operates Brutal Fight Club, a boxing training facility in the same building where the earlier event was held. Sources said he sought permission for the second episode from the relevant boxing association and local police, but the association declined approval and police also refused permission.
Despite the denial, promotional reels surfaced online, prompting cybercrime authorities to initiate legal action. A case was booked against Purvik on Tuesday, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the proposed event and those involved in its promotion.
