Both Suspected Ebola Cases at Gandhi Hospital Test Negative
Health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said that tests conducted by the CSIR-centre for cellular and molecular biology, under the guidance of the national institute of virology (NIV), Pune, confirmed that both patients were Ebola-negative.

Hyderabad: Both individuals who were admitted to the isolation ward at Gandhi hospital on suspicion of Ebola have tested negative for the virus, according to the Telangana health department.
Health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said that tests conducted by the CSIR-centre for cellular and molecular biology, under the guidance of the national institute of virology (NIV), Pune, confirmed that both patients were Ebola-negative.
“On Friday, NIV confirmed that the first individual was Ebola-negative. Today, it has confirmed that the second individual has also tested negative,” the minister said in a post on X.
The two were admitted at Gandhi hospital after presenting with fever and having a travel history linked to Ebola-affected or high-risk countries.
As per the guidelines of the Union ministry of health and family welfare, fresh samples from both individuals will be collected and sent to NIV, Pune, for reconfirmation and the patients will be discharged only after final confirmation of the test results and completion of the prescribed protocol.
The health department stated that it continues to remain vigilant and is implementing all precautionary measures in accordance with Government of India guidelines, including screening and monitoring of international travellers.
