Bonded Labourers To Be Given Priority In Indiramma Housing: Labour Minister

The survivors of bonded labour will now be prioritised under the Indiramma Illu housing scheme: Labour minister G. Vivek Venkat Swamy

Hyderabad: Labour minister G. Vivek Venkat Swamy on Wednesday announced several measures aimed at institutionalising protection and rehabilitation. These include a dedicated toll-free helpline (8069434343) to report cases of bonded labour. It connects directly to the state labour department for a swift response.

The minister said the survivors of bonded labour will now be prioritised under the Indiramma Illu housing scheme, supporting long-term rehabilitation and dignity. “We will talk to charity organisations and corporates for CSR funds to help the survivors during the period immediately after rescue, till they receive their compensations,” he said.

Additionally, the state will now observe February 9 as Bonded Labour Abolition Day, featuring campaigns, public awareness drives, and community engagement to reinforce zero tolerance for bonded labour.
