Bonalu Celebrated With Religious Fervour in Kamareddy, Sangareddy
Devotees thronged temples across Kamareddy and Sangareddy as Bonalu celebrations were held with traditional rituals, cultural performances and special prayers.
Bonalu was celebrated with religious fervour at Baswapur village in Bhiknoor mandal and Domakonda in Kamareddy district on Sunday, with hundreds of devotees participating in the festivities.
TPCC Youth Congress leader Mohammed Ilias attended the Sri Mahankali Bonalu celebrations, Bodrai Pratishtha Mahotsavam and Oora Panduga festivities as the chief guest.
He offered pattu vastralu (silk clothes) to the presiding deity and performed special prayers amid Vedic chants by temple priests. He also participated in the Bodrai Pratishtha ceremony and extended his greetings to devotees.
Addressing the gathering, Ilias said he had prayed for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Telangana. He described Bonalu and Oora Panduga as symbols of Telangana's rich cultural heritage and said such festivals strengthen communal harmony, devotion and brotherhood.
Temple committee members and village elders felicitated Ilias for participating in the celebrations and offering silk clothes to the deity.
District Library Chairman Maddi Chandrakanth, Indrakaran Reddy, Ireni Sandeep, Bheem Reddy, Narender Reddy, Ireni Narsaiah, Sudarshan, Anantha Reddy, Asha Boyina Srinivas, Pata Raju, Nausi Lal Naik, Gampa Prasad, Congress leaders, temple committee members, public representatives and a large number of devotees attended the celebrations.
Meanwhile, Bonalu was celebrated with religious fervour in Sangareddy district. District Congress Committee president T. Nirmala Jagga Reddy attended the celebrations as the chief guest. Performances by Potharajus drew large crowds of devotees.
