BJP’s Tiranga March Turns Into Attack on CM Revanth

Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP on Friday held a large-scale Tiranga rally at Tank Bund as part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign ahead of Independence Day. The march, flagged off by state party president N. Ramchander Rao, proceeded from the Dr B.R. Ambedkar statue to the Swami Vivekananda statue, drawing thousands of party workers, students and citizens.
Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy used the platform to launch a sharp attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over the reported opposition of MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi opposition to singing Vande Mataram. He reminded that Parliament enacted a law making Vande Mataram mandatory as the National Song, and dared the CM to act against the MIM leaders. “If you have the courage and faith in Parliament’s law, don’t let them stay in Darussalam, send them to Cherlapally jail,” he challenged.
Reddy also invoked the sacrifice of Sama Jagannatha Reddy, an ABVF activist from Kakatiya University who was killed for protesting the burning of the National Flag by Naxalites, calling it an insult to all Indians. He accused opposition parties of conspiring against India’s progress and urged people to reject “anti-national politics”.
Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar targeted Congress on youth representation, saying if the party was sincere it should induct Gen-Z leaders into the state Cabinet and give them key portfolios instead of merely talking about lowering the election age. “Don’t just talk. Show it in action by walking the talk,” he said.

Ramchander Rao, who led the rally, focused on instilling patriotism and hit out at Congress’ past rule, contrasting it with Modi’s tenure. Rajya Sabha MP Dr K. Laxman stressed unity across caste, religion and language, while Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and said India’s democracy had enabled a tea-seller’s son to become Prime Minister and an Adivasi woman to become President.
Besides noted badminton player Saina Nehwal, film actor Sai Kumar and religious leaders, former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, MPs G. Nagesh, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, D. Arwind, party MLAs, rally convenor Dr Mekala Shilpa Reddy and others took part.
