BJP Wins All Five Co-Option Seats in Karimnagar Corporation
The Congress stayed away from the contest

Karimnagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured all five seats in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (KMC) co-option elections, with support from 38 corporators.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) faced a setback as four of its corporators backed the BJP candidates during the voting. The Congress stayed away from the contest.
Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar welcomed the results, stating that the party prioritised grassroots workers for the posts. Among the winners is Nandan Kumar from Bommakal, described as a party activist from a modest background.
Balbir Singh was elected from the minority segment. Balbir Singh’s selection by the BJP was welcomed by the local Sikh community. Afissa Begum, the mother of loyal party activist Md Mujeeb, was nominated by the BJP in recognition of his long services. Chiguru Venkatamma, mother of former corporator Chiguru Ravi, representing the SC women’s wing, and Kanne Krishna from the Arya Vysya community were also elected.
BJP cadres celebrated the results, while the BRS faced internal dissent following the defection of its corporators. The outcome strengthens the BJP’s position in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
