BJP Telangana Chief Touts NDA Achievements at US Meet
Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao highlighted the NDA government's achievements and asserted the BJP's growing political influence in Telangana during an event in the United States.
Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao claimed people in Telangana now saw the party as the only credible alternative, citing the election of eight MPs from the state, recent gains in MLC elections and surveys pointing to its rising influence.
Rao described the BRS and Congress as “two sides of the same coin,” alleging that they had joined hands to defeat the BJP candidate in an MLC poll and that the BRS continued to back the Congress on national issues.
Rao said that India commanded “immense respect” globally and asserted that the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working towards a Viksit Bharat and Viksit Telangana. Rao, speaking at Baltimore at a conference organised by the American Telugu Association, also spoke at a meet-and-greet with BJP supporters, well-wishers and sympathisers there.
Highlighting the Centre’s record, Rao said India is the world’s fourth-largest economy, building highways at a record pace and undertaking massive infrastructure creation that will generate large-scale employment. He recalled the evacuation of Indian students from the Russia–Ukraine conflict zone, noting India also assisted students from Pakistan and other countries, as proof of the country’s growing credibility.
On energy security, he said many nations faced oil shortages and petrol rationing during the West Asia conflict, but India avoided such a crisis due to “strategic planning and farsighted leadership” under Modi.
Rao added that the government’s focus is on turning youth into job creators through Start-up India, Stand-Up India and MUDRA, helping India become the second-largest startup ecosystem. He cited Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace, founded by young IITians, as an example of this new India.
Rao also pointed to rising defence exports and greater use of indigenous weapons, referencing Operation Sindoor last year. He noted that India’s airport count has more than doubled since 2014, with Warangal and Adilabad airports coming up in Telangana.
He listed AIIMS, a Central Tribal University, the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City, Kazipet rail manufacturing unit and the PM MITRA Textile Park in Warangal as key central initiatives for the state, alongside a ₹5,000 crore railway budget, redevelopment of 41 railway stations, five Vande Bharat trains and three proposed high-speed rail corridors.
