BJP Slams Telangana Government for Failing to Implement PM Crop Insurance

Hyderabad: The BJP has sharply criticised the Revanth Reddy government for failing to implement the Prime Minister’s crop insurance scheme, similar to his predecessor K. Chandrashekar Rao, calling this neglect a curse for farmers facing severe flood damage.
BJP Kisan Morcha state president K. Sridhar Reddy, accompanied by local BJP district president Neelam Raju and others, visited Lakshmidevi in Kamareddy district, which was heavily affected by recent floods. They inspected submerged fields and met with distressed farmers.
Farmers expressed grave concern that neither agriculture nor revenue officials have visited to record their losses. Some farmers, moved to tears, revealed that sand mounds have been dumped in their fields, rendering them unfit for cultivation.
Speaking to the media, Sridhar Reddy accused the state government of extreme negligence. Despite repeated appeals to implement the central government’s Crop Insurance Scheme, Telangana has ignored the directive, mirroring the inaction of the previous KCR government. He lamented that if the scheme had been active during the floods, farmers could have received timely compensation from insurance companies without waiting for aid.
Sridhar Reddy demanded the immediate registration of losses by authorities and compensation of Rs.50,000 per acre. He urged quick implementation of the scheme and government support to clear sand mounds from the fields.
