BJP Slams Musi Project Demolitions
Telangana BJP president N. Ramachander Rao on Friday clarified that the party is not against the rejuvenation of the Musi river:Reports

HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president N. Ramachander Rao on Friday clarified that the party is not against the rejuvenation of the Musi river, but demolishing homes of the poor and rendering farmers and citizens homeless in the name of beautification is wrong. He announced that Union home minister Amit Shah will visit Hyderabad on November 2. He asserted that scientific purification can be undertaken without demolishing houses and said the BJP is with the displaced persons of the Musi project.
Speaking to the media at the state party office, Rao criticised the public hearing conducted by the Congress government in the name of Musi rejuvenation as a farce. He questioned how a hearing could be held without inviting victims and persons to be displaced.
He pointed out that many ex-servicemen reside in the Madhu Park area within the Gandhi Sarovar project limits, and said it was appalling that actual victims were not permitted into the meeting organised by Musi Riverfront Corporation officials near Himayatsagar on October 28.
Rao alleged that the previous BRS government allocated an estimated ₹750 crore for the Musi Corporation but eventually released only ₹3 crore, while the current Congress government is projecting estimates in thousands of crores without showing a clear Detailed Project Report or budget allocations.
He emphasised that the government must directly conduct a Praja Darbar with victims and resolve their issues before moving forward, assuring that the BJP will stand by the displaced.
Rao announced that Amit Shah will participate in a Maha Padayatra from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue opposite Nizam College in Basheerbagh at 3 p.m. to Mozamjahi Market crossroads, where he will address the gathering. The Maha Padayatra is intended to counter the Congress party’s “false propaganda” on SIR.
Meanwhile, several prominent figures and retired senior officials, including retired chief engineer Hanumantha Rao from undivided Nizamabad district, joined the BJP under the leadership of Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind.
