BJP Seeks Stipend For Ayush Students

State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, who visited the students’ protest camp at the Ayurveda College in Erragadda, said the students had the full support of his party.

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Wednesday demanded that the state government immediately address the agitation by Ayush students over pending stipends and resolve their issues.

State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, who visited the students’ protest camp at the Ayurveda College in Erragadda, said the students had the full support of his party.

Ramchander Rao said Ayush students must be paid stipends on a par with allopathic medicine students. The Ayush students have been demanding payment of their pending stipends.

He accused the Congress government in Telangana of acting irresponsibly and discriminating against Ayush students.

Ramchander Rao said the stipends were stopped in 2016, which was a criminal act. He said Telangana should follow Andhra Pradesh which, following Supreme Court orders, matched stipends for Ayush postgraduate students and house surgeons with those paid to allopathic medicine students.
