BJP Seeks Clarification on GHMC Ward Delimitation amid Manipulation Fears
The delegation demanded that the GHMC commissioner provide maps immediately using GIS, hold general body meeting and then approve delimitation. They said the government had rushed through the process without democratic inclusivity. The BJP stressed guidelines on population, natural boundaries, and contiguity must be disclosed.

Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP has demanded transparency in the delimitation of 300 wards of the corporation following the merger of 27 urban local bodies.
A BJP delegation led by senior BJP leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy, which met GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan on Thursday, highlighted the six-day gap between GHMC expansion and division notification, which it said was very short, and questioned the reorganisation framework which is said appeared to be pre-planned.
The delegation alleged lack of public consultation, especially amid Hyderabad's poor urban infrastructure, rising pollution, and the controversial HILT policy. The delegation also comprised former mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, former deputy mayor Subash Chander, and party general secretary Dr S. Gautam Rao.
Key demands included release of the Centre for Good Governance report on the merger, ward-wise maps, census population data, voter lists, and polling stations for all 300 wards. They flagged potential manipulation favouring the AIMIM with the Congress’ blessings, exclusion of elected representatives of the 27 ULBs from the GHMC general body review, as per rule 8, and absence of Nazari Nakshas.
