BJP Seeks 10x Compensation for Karkhana Property Owners

He urged the Chief Minister to intervene and revise the compensation package before possession of the affected properties.

Hyderabad:State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Wednesday urged the government to pay compensation at 10 times the actual property value to owners facing loss of homes and commercial establishments in Karkhana for the proposed elevated corridor on Rajiv Rahadari.

In a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Rao sought a property-wise reassessment based on prevailing market values and said the revised compensation should be finalised in consultation with affected residents and paid before their properties are taken over.

Rao said residents and business owners in Karkhana had been cooperating with the authorities on the infrastructure project, but argued that the compensation offered “should adequately reflect the value of properties being acquired and the loss of homes, commercial establishments and livelihoods.”

Referring to compensation paid for properties acquired in Tumkunta, Rao claimed that it was 10 times the actual property value and sought the same basis for affected property owners in Karkhana.

Rao said the approach would ensure what he described as fairness and justice while facilitating timely implementation of the elevated corridor. He urged the Chief Minister to intervene and revise the compensation package before possession of the affected properties.
