BJP Sarpanch Candidate Attacked in Karimnagar

The assailants allegedly threw chilli powder into his eyes before assaulting him, causing injuries

Karimnagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sarpanch candidate Dandu Komuraiah was attacked by unidentified persons on Friday night at Molangur village in Shankarapatnam mandal of Karimnagar district.

The assailants allegedly threw chilli powder into his eyes before assaulting him, causing injuries. He was shifted to the area hospital at Huzurabad for treatment.

According to the police, Komuraiah was returning after visiting a friend who had been injured in a road accident at Tenuguwada when the attack took place. The attackers, reportedly wearing monkey caps, first blinded him with chilli powder, making it difficult for him to identify them, and then assaulted him.

Based on a complaint lodged by Komuraiah, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. Efforts are on to identify the attackers and ascertain the motive behind the assault, which is suspected to be linked to the ongoing panchayat elections.
