BJP MPs Urge Sainik School for Telangana
The demand for a Sainik School has been gaining traction across several districts, including Adilabad, Warangal and Siddipet.

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP MPs D.K. Aruna, the party vice-president, M. Raghunandan Rao, Etala Rajender, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Godam Nagesh and MLA Payal Shankar met Union minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth in Delhi on Thursday and urged him to initiate steps for the establishment of a Sainik School in the state.
The delegation pointed out that local quota seats for Telangana students in Sainik Schools located in Andhra Pradesh had been cancelled. They stressed the need for a dedicated Sainik School in Telangana to ensure fair access for local youth.
Medak MP Raghunandan Rao had earlier written to the defence ministry on the same issue. Though the ministry had given in-principle approval for a Sainik School in Telangana back in 2017, the previous state government failed to respond, drawing criticism for its inaction. The demand for a Sainik School has been gaining traction across several districts, including Adilabad, Warangal and Siddipet.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Payal Shankar said he requested the minister to consider Adilabad for the school, citing its status as a tribal and backward district. “It will help provide quality education, discipline and leadership training to students from underdeveloped areas, and improve their chances of joining the armed forces,” he said, adding that it would also help correct the regional imbalance in access to military-oriented education.
