Hyderabad: In what is seen as a shot in the arm for revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s ongoing campaign for new Bhu Bharati Act, BJP’s firebrand MP M. Raghunandan Rao shared the stage with the minister at an awareness programme in Sangareddy on Saturday and offered rare praise for the Congress government. The gesture is being seen as a political twist, given Raghunandan Rao is known as the bitter critic of Congress.
Raghunandan Rao lauded the Congress government’s decision to replace the Dharani portal, introduced during the BRS regime with the new Bhu Bharati land records system.
“People were tortured and harassed with the Dharani portal,” Raghunandan Rao said while addressing the gathering. “There was no provision to correct even minor errors in land records, forcing people to go to court. This increased the burden on the judiciary. With Bhu Bharati, such corrections can be made without legal intervention. This is a good step forward," the BJP MP said.
