BJP Has No Moral Right To Criticise Congress On Women’s Reservation: Nalgonda DCC President

NALGONDA: District Congress Committee (DCC) president Punna Kailash Netha on Sunday said the BJP has no moral right to criticise the Congress on women’s reservation and women’s rights.
Addressing a media conference at Yadav Bhavan in Nalgonda, he alleged that the BJP government was politicising the women’s reservation issue by linking it to the delimitation Bill. He claimed that the move reflected a hidden agenda to reduce the importance of smaller states and those in South India through the delimitation of Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies.
He further alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was using the women’s reservation Bill to attract votes, while questioning the BJP’s commitment to women’s representation. He pointed out that in its 40-year history, the BJP has never had a woman as its national president.
Netha also alleged that the BJP has not appointed women to key posts in the 21 states it governs and has failed to ensure adequate representation of women MPs in parliamentary committees.
He urged the BJP government to implement the women’s reservation Bill, passed by Parliament in 2023, in its present form.
PCC OBC Cell chairman Jillapalli Paramesh was also present.
