BJP Demands Judicial Probe Into 22A Land Listings

HYDERABAD: The Telangana BJP staged a maha dharna demanding a judicial inquiry by a High Court judge into the Section 22A listings that placed farmers’ and private land in the prohibited category under the Bhu‑Bharathi portal. The party alleged that thousands of crores in land deals were diverted to benami firms of revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, leaving lakhs of landowners unable to sell property or secure loans.

He alleged that patta lands with house permissions and utilities were being pushed into the prohibited list to aid “land mafia” and criticised the sale of housing board sites, park lands and endowment properties under auctions.
Kishan Reddy claimed the Congress regime was collecting 30 per cent commissions to remove lands from the list, and said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was coordinating with collectors on “which lands to sell”. He warned that BJP would recover every rupee and restore justice to affected farmers, workers and students.
BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao said the Bhu‑Bharathi system had worsened hardships for farmers and the middle class by arbitrarily tagging homes and agricultural lands as prohibited. He alleged that the earlier BRS regime took 15 per cent commissions, while the present government was collecting 30 per cent, collapsing the revenue system and denying people credit.
Rao said nearly 50 lakh people were suffering as they could not sell land or obtain loans for education and marriages. He demanded a judicial inquiry, criticised the Assembly session being limited to two days, and warned that BJP would fight “from the streets to the Assembly” until all affected lands were removed from the 22A list.
Party leaders including A.V.N. Reddy, Etala Rajender, D.K. Aruna, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Raghunandan Rao, Godam Nagesh, Dr K. Laxman, Bandaru Dattatreya, MLAs, MLCs and Kisan Morcha president Basva Lakshmi Narasiah joined the protest.
BJP floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy accused Srinivas Reddy of quid pro quo in land transactions to benefit his companies. He said the prohibited list had expanded from 16 lakh acres to 80 lakh acres, covering apartments, colonies and cultivated lands, and announced that BJP MPs, MLAs and MLCs would observe a fast before intensifying the agitation.
