BJP Chief Ramchander Rao Urges Policy Debates Over Personal Attacks in Telangana Politics

Stressing the need to set aside personal enmities, he said that no one justifies personal attacks. Yet many politicians ignore policy critiques and ideological talks.

Hyderabad:Telangana BJP chief N. Ramchander Rao called for an end to personal attacks by political leaders and urged them to shift to policy-based criticisms. He accused some state governments of facing severe financial crises and struggling with poor revenue-expenditure balance, which has led to delays in employee salaries and retirement benefits.

Speaking at the `Atalji Smriti Sammelan', being organised by the Trinetra Foundation and Union culture ministry to mark the birth centenary celebrations of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Rao said that people have been noticing use of filthy language in state politics. Stressing the need to set aside personal enmities, he said that no one justifies personal attacks. Yet many politicians ignore policy critiques and ideological talks.

“True debates and respect for democracy are vital. Vajpayee never made personal attacks. He focused only on policies,” Rao said and asked the state government to follow his ideals, including `Good Governance Day'.

The state must balance welfare and development programs like Vajpayee did, Rao said. Lack of funds now delays salaries. Retired employees miss pensions. Some pensioners even commit suicide or beg on streets. This is tragic. The governments must balance revenue and spending, he stressed.
