PM Misled Into Making Kancha Remarks: Revanth

Telangana model was being discussed across the country and that's why BJP and BRS were troubling Congress: CM

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accused the state government of attempting to destroy forests in Kancha Gachibowli as he was misled by a misinformation campaign run by the BJP and the BRS.

Revanth Reddy said that the BRS and the BJP had circulated fake videos and false narratives using artificial intelligence (AI) tools, which misled Modi.

Addressing the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister slammed the BJP’s Telangana unit and the BRS for their coordinated campaign of misinformation against the Congress government in the state.

“Opposition parties circulated fake visuals using AI on the Kancha Gachibowli and HCU lands,” Revanth Reddy said. “Unfortunately, the Prime Minister believed those fake videos and made bulldozer comments about our government.”

The Chief Minister accused both the BJP and BRS of running a coordinated and “poisonous campaign” against the Congress government, motivated by fear of losing political ground.

“Until yesterday, Bandi Sanjay and Kishan Reddy were attacking our administration. Now even Prime Minister Modi has joined them. They are worried because the Congress government has implemented impactful schemes that are receiving positive public response,” Revanth Reddy stated.

The Chief Minister said that the BJP’s unease with issues like SC sub-categorisation and the caste census stemmed from fear. “These reforms are a political death warrant for Modi and that's why Modi himself entered the scene to target the Telangana government,” he said.

Revanth Reddy stated that the Congress government had found permanent solutions to some problems pending for many years such as caste census, SC sub-categorisation, enhancement of BC reservations to 42 per cent among others and the achievements have sparked nationwide debate and caused panic among rival parties. He said big debates on the "Telangana model" of welfare and development are taking place across the country. "That is why, the BJP and the BRS joined together to create trouble for the Congress government in Telangana," he said.

Revanth Reddy also targeted the opposition parties' criticism of the 'sanna biyyam’ (fine rice) scheme, which provides free fine rice to the poor. “Why is this scheme not implemented in BJP-ruled states if it is funded by Modi? Sanna biyyam is our idea, our brand. It is bringing joy and dignity to over 85 per cent of the state's people. Families are able to eat full meals every day,” he said.

The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP and the BRS were spreading fake videos about the fine rice quality and the scheme’s funding. “They’re claiming that the Centre is bearing the entire cost, but in reality, the Telangana government is footing a large portion of the expenses. Despite these lies, people are supporting us because they can see the results,” he added.

Revanth Reddy reiterated that the opposition’s attempts to derail the Congress government would not succeed. “We will continue to work for the people. Their blessings are our strength.”
