BJP Blames Cong. For Fertiliser Crisis
Responding to Nageshwar Rao’s claim that he (the state BJP chief) lacked understanding of the fertiliser issue, Ramchander Rao cited data from the department of fertilisers and the Telangana agriculture department to show that the Modi government had supplied 12.2 lakh metric tonnes of urea to Telangana against a requirement of 9.8 lakh metric tonnes.

HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has condemned the Congress government's move to allocate 10 per cent of the 42 per cent Backward Classes (BCs) reservations to Muslims, calling religion-based quotas “unacceptable” while reiterating the BJP’s support for increased BC representation.
Addressing party workers in Khammam, Ramchander Rao accused the Congress of misleading BC community members and farmers ahead of the local body elections.
He alleged that agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, who hails from Khammam, was spreading misinformation about urea supplies from the Central government.
He questioned why shortages were still reported and blamed the state government for failing to curb pilferage and black marketing.
He highlighted the rising subsidies extended by the Centre, stating that the central government had allocated approximately Rs 1.94 lakh crore in fertiliser subsidies up to 2024. Farmers are receiving 45 kg bags of urea at just Rs 266.5, while the government bears a subsidy of Rs 1,423.5 against the market price of Rs 1,690. Similarly, for DAP, the actual price per bag is Rs 2,445.55, but with a Central subsidy of Rs 1,095.55, farmers pay only Rs 1,350. He accused Congress leaders of being complicit in fertiliser black marketing.
He also claimed that Khammam and Nalgonda, once known as Communist strongholds, are turning into BJP bastions, mirroring the political shift seen in West Bengal. He attributed the trend to the global decline of Communist ideology and the BJP’s emergence as the only force capable of protecting national interests.
“The people have already rejected the BRS and are now prepared to reject Congress as well due to its anti-people policies. They are eager to support the committed BJP,” he averred. Ramchander Rao is currently on a two-day tour covering Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Mahbubabad districts, where he is interacting with grassroots party workers, farmers, women, youth and intellectuals to understand and address public concerns.
