BJP Backs Etala’s Padayatra On Dump Yard Issue
Reddy said surrounding colonies had suffered for nearly three decades, with about 10,000 metric tonnes of waste accumulating daily at the dump yard, damaging public health and living conditions

Hyderabad:The BJP on Thursday announced full support to the padayatra to be launched by party Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender on October 27, demanding permanent relocation of the Jawaharnagar dump yard.
BJP floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy said state party president N. Ramchander Rao, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and party leaders would join the agitation. He alleged that the Congress government had failed to uphold citizens’ constitutional right to a clean environment, and criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for neglecting the issue despite winning support from Malkajgiri residents.
Reddy said surrounding colonies had suffered for nearly three decades, with about 10,000 metric tonnes of waste accumulating daily at the dump yard, damaging public health and living conditions. Successive governments, he alleged, had offered only assurances without a lasting solution. He said Rajender’s experience in public struggles gave residents confidence that the campaign could secure a permanent solution. The BJP would continue pressure until the dump yard is shifted. A meeting with affected residents was held on Friday, and a round‑table with environmentalists and intellectuals will take place on October 25.
