Hyderabad: Woman Techie Dies By Suicide Over Dowry Harassment

Based on the complaint filed by the woman's family members, a case was registered at Miyapur Police Station, and her husband was taken into custody.

According to a police official, the deceased woman, Ishita Yadav, a native of Bihar, befriended Neeraj Bhansal from Madhya Pradesh through a social media platform in 2020, and were in a live-in relationship for five years. They were recently married in February this year in Patna in the presence of their family members. After marriage, the couple stayed in an apartment in Miyapur. However, recently, some differences cropped up between the couple, and her husband was allegedly mentally harassing her for additional dowry, the official said. Further, the woman's husband, who set up a start-up company, was also harassing her family members to invest in his firm, police said. Unable to bear the harassment, she died by suicide, the official said, based on preliminary investigation.

The accused has been apprehended, and further investigation is underway, police added.
