Bhupalpally MLA Seeks Curbs on Illegal Sand Transport

WARANGAL: Congress MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao directed officials to act strictly and decisively to eliminate supervisory lapses and curb illegal sand transportation, especially concerning the supply meant for Indiramma Housing Scheme beneficiaries.

The MLA, along with district collector Rahul Sharma and police superintendent Kiran Khare, chaired a review meeting with officials from the revenue, police, forest, mining, housing, and panchayat raj departments at the Collectorate conference hall in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday.

During the meeting, Satyanarayana ordered the immediate seizure of all vehicles without number plates and instructed the Special Task Force to maintain constant surveillance to prevent illegal sand movement.

He issued strict guidelines for sand transportation, allowing movement only between 6 am and 6 pm, with a single trip per day per vehicle based on a single use coupon. Vehicles without coupons or carrying excess loads must be seized and penalised, he said.

The MLA also directed officials to prohibit sand transport on Sundays and government holidays and to restrict supply only to residents within the district. He instructed the installation of CCTV cameras at border points for effective monitoring and called for the seizure of illegal sand stockpiles with legal action against those responsible.

Collector Rahul Sharma warned that officials found negligent in their duties would face suspension. He instructed mandal level task forces and concerned departments to conduct regular checks and ensure compliance with timing restrictions.

SP Kiran Khare stressed the need for coordinated action among departments to control illegal sand transport. He directed that daily reports of issued coupons be shared promptly through a WhatsApp group and advised that Indiramma Housing Scheme beneficiaries obtain sand coupons through their respective gram panchayat secretaries from designated government reaches.
