Bhupalpally: ACB Searches Mines AD’s Premises, Finds Assets Worth ₹3.06 Crore
The searches were carried out at the residences and offices of Jayaraj and his family members in Bhupalpally, Hanamkonda, Warangal and Hyderabad.
Bhupalpally:The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted simultaneous searches at 12 locations linked to Bhupalpally district mines assistant director Bojja Jayaraj following allegations that he had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The searches were carried out at the residences and offices of Jayaraj and his family members in Bhupalpally, Hanamkonda, Warangal and Hyderabad.
Warangal Range ACB DSP P. Sambayya said officials had identified assets worth `3,06,53,177 that appeared disproportionate to Jayaraj’s known sources of income. Documents relating to house plots and agricultural land, gold ornaments, three- and four-wheelers and household articles were found during the searches, he said. The market value of the properties could be considerably higher than their government-assessed value, officials said.
The ACB also examined transactions found on the mobile phone of Jayaraj’s driver, S. Yadaiah. Officials found that `24.38 lakh had allegedly been transferred in several instalments from Jayaraj’s account to Yadaiah’s account.
According to the ACB, Yadaiah told officials that the money had been collected from persons involved in sand transportation and related activities and later transferred to the officer’s daughter’s account.
A case was registered against Jayaraj under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Further investigation is under way, DSP Sambayya said.
