Bhu Bharati Pilot to Expand Across 28 Districts from May 5: Ponguleti

Srinivas Reddy, who participated in 45 awareness sessions across nearly 20 districts between April 17 and 30, highlighted the enthusiastic participation of farmers even amidst intense summer heat

Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Thursday said the state government's ambitious Bhu Bharati Act, aimed at providing permanent solutions to long-standing land issues, had received an overwhelming response during its pilot implementation. Since its launch on April 14, coinciding with Dr Ambedkar jayanti, the pilot has been successfully carried out in four mandals in four districts.

In a media release, Srinivas Reddy said, "Building on the pilot’s success, the Bhu Bharati Act will now be extended to one mandal in each of the remaining 28 districts except Hyderabad, starting May 5."

Srinivas Reddy, who participated in 45 awareness sessions across nearly 20 districts between April 17 and 30, highlighted the enthusiastic participation of farmers even amidst intense summer heat. He said that special training had been imparted to revenue officials to ensure Bhu Bharati Act’s provisions were clearly communicated to the farmers. District collectors, tahsildars and deputy tahsildars led field-level teams to facilitate the programme.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress, Srinivas Reddy said that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the Bhu Bharati Act heralded a revolutionary change, focusing entirely on public and farmer welfare. “Farmers have shown immense confidence that their long-pending issues will be resolved through this Act, which corrects the shortcomings of the previous Dharani system,” he said.

“Our goal is to ensure that farmers need not approach courts or incur expenses. Their land issues will be resolved at revenue offices efficiently and transparently,” the minister said, adding that true justice to farmers lies not just in enacting laws but in ensuring their effective implementation.
