Bhatti Writes to Free Power Beneficiaries
The government’s flagship scheme offers 200 units of free electricity.
Hyderabad: A letter penned by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is being given to nearly 11.38 lakh Gruha Jyoti beneficiaries across Greater Hyderabad, marking the New Year and Sankranti festivities. The letters were delivered at the doorstep by southern discom staff.
The government’s flagship scheme offers 200 units of free electricity. Each letter carries the beneficiary’s name and service number, detailing monthly savings from free power. Bhatti urged families to channel these savings into children’s education, healthcare, and household needs, assuring the beneficiaries that the state would fully bear the financial burden of the scheme.
Officials said letters are being hand‑delivered across 10 circles in the city: Banjara Hills (38,837), Hyderabad Central (74,551), Secunderabad (77,296), Hyderabad South (1,08,078), Rajendranagar (1,43,216), Sangareddy (2,23,236), Cyber City (77,193), Medchal (1,24,014), Saroornagar (1,30,162), and Habsiguda (1,41,897) — covering a total of 11,38,480 households.
Beneficiaries expressed delight at receiving personalised wishes directly at home, calling the gesture unprecedented. “This shows how close government services are to people and reflects true responsibility,” they said, praising the initiative.
