Bhatti Outlines Telangana’s Green Energy Plans

The government also plans to harness vacant government land, including temple and irrigation properties, for solar plant installation, coupled with measures to prevent land encroachment.

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu emphasised Telangana’s robust green energy initiatives as a cornerstone of the state’s sustainable development strategy. Speaking at an event that included the foundation laying for substations and distribution of ration cards and transformers to farmers in Chevella, Bhatti highlighted renewable energy projects in the state.

He detailed plans to install solar power generation systems on all government office buildings and government-run educational institutions. District collectors have been instructed to promptly submit necessary data to facilitate this initiative.

The government also plans to harness vacant government land, including temple and irrigation properties, for solar plant installation, coupled with measures to prevent land encroachment. Floating solar units are being prepared for deployment on large and medium irrigation reservoirs. Additional efforts will focus on hydel power, pumped storage and wind energy projects to diversify Telangana’s clean energy portfolio.

These measures aim to meet the state’s rising electricity demand through 2047 sustainably, reducing reliance on conventional sources and minimizing environmental impact. Alongside green initiatives, Bhatti highlighted upgrades to power infrastructure, such as new substations and transformers, to ensure uninterrupted and quality electricity supply regardless of demand.

The event was attended by Legislative Council chief whip Patnam Mahender Reddy, MLA Kale Yadayya, district collector Narayana Reddy, SPDCL CMD Musharraf Faruqui and other officials.
