Bhatti Orders Readiness Review of Residential Schools

He directed that monthly health check-ups be conducted by qualified doctors and that student health records be maintained

Nalgonda: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday directed officials to ensure full preparedness of government residential educational institutions for the academic year 2026-27.

At a review meeting held at the Integrated District Offices Complex in Khammam, he assessed readiness for the upcoming academic session and asked officials to focus on increasing admissions by creating awareness among parents. He instructed them to identify reasons for unfilled seats in certain residential schools and address the gaps.

Noting that the academic year would start on June 12, he directed that all repair and infrastructure works taken up during the summer vacation be completed before reopening.

The Deputy Chief Minister said boards displaying diet charges and menu must be installed in every residential school and hostel. He asked the district collector to appoint a district-level officer as in-charge for each institution, with a mandate to conduct monthly visits and submit comprehensive reports. Officials were also instructed to carry out inspections and record findings formally.

He directed that monthly health check-ups be conducted by qualified doctors and that student health records be maintained.

Officials were asked to submit a detailed report on residential institutions operating in rented buildings and to prepare a preliminary plan on relocation of SC, ST, BC and minority residential schools once Young India Integrated School buildings are completed. He stressed expediting construction of these institutions.

Regional coordinators were instructed to complete inspections of all residential schools within 12 days using a prescribed checklist and submit reports. Priority must be given to timely distribution of textbooks and uniforms.

Stating that education remains a top priority of the state government, he said there would be zero tolerance towards negligence in ensuring facilities and quality education in residential schools.

He said most bills related to works undertaken by Amma Adarsha Schools committees had been cleared and that DMFT funds would be used to settle pending bills of the education department. Officials were also directed to prepare an action plan for installation of solar panels in residential schools.

District collector Divakara T.S., additional collector Dr P. Srija, Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt and regional organisers of residential educational institutions attended the meeting.
