Bhadrakali Temple Gears Up For Sharannavaratri Festivities

Temple authorities are making arrangements for the expected influx of devotees from the erstwhile Warangal district, other parts of Telangana and neighbouring states.

Warangal:The Sri Bhadrakali temple in Warangal is preparing for Sharannavaratri festivities from Sunday to October 21, with special pujas, rituals, homams and other Vedic ceremonies planned at the shrine atop Bhadrakali hill.

The presiding deity will appear in a different special adornment each day. Temple authorities are making arrangements for the expected influx of devotees from the erstwhile Warangal district, other parts of Telangana and neighbouring states.

The temple, which dates back to the Kakatiya era, is one of Telangana’s major spiritual destinations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the shrine and performance of special pujas during his tour of Warangal highlighted its significance.

Worshipping Goddess Durga in different forms during Sharannavaratri is a longstanding tradition. The festival marks the victory of divine power over evil forces. Maha Ashtami will be observed on October 18, Maha Navami on October 19 and Vijayadashami on October 20.

For the concluding celebrations, temple authorities are making arrangements for the Bhadrakali-Bhadreshwari Kalyana Mahotsavam.

Arrangements are also being made for darshan, crowd management and other facilities to ensure that devotees do not face inconvenience during the festivities.
