Bhadrakali Temple Celebrates Second Day Of Navaratri With Annapurneshwari Adornment

Sri Bhadrakali Temple in Warangal marked the second day of Sharannavaratri with special pujas, Kumkumarchanas, devotional rituals and cultural performances.

The Sharannavaratri celebrations at the Sri Bhadrakali Temple in Warangal entered the second day on Monday, with the presiding deity adorned as Annapurneshwari and special rituals performed.

The goddess was worshipped as Gangabhavani on a Makara Vahana in the morning and as Rajarajeshwari on a Chandra Prabha Vahana in the evening. Special pujas and collective Kumkumarchanas drew devotees to the temple.

The daily rituals began at 4am, after which priests adorned the goddess as Annapurneshwari. As part of the Navadurga worship, she was also worshipped as Brahmacharini Durga.

Temple chief priest Bhadrakali Seshu said the goddess in this form was believed to bless spiritual seekers with knowledge and authority. Special pujas were performed in the evening as part of the Devaja Durga ritual. Devaja Durga, he said, represented the power of all deities and destroyed evil forces that troubled devotees.

Devotees believe that worshipping Gangabhavani on a Makara Vahana protects them from water-related dangers, while darshan of Rajarajeshwari on a Chandra Prabha Vahana brings mental stability and improves concentration during spiritual practice.

Temple sources said the Annapurneshwari adornment on the second day held special spiritual significance ahead of the Gayatri adornment scheduled for the third day, which symbolised initiation into mantra practice. Devotees believe that worshipping the goddess as Annapurneshwari wards off hunger and ensures an abundance of food.

Women devotees performed collective Kumkumarchanas in the temple’s Mahamandapam. The evening’s cultural programmes included Harikatha, devotional and Carnatic music and Kuchipudi dance performances.
