Bhadradri VAO in ACB Net

The arrested officer had demanded Rs.60,000 from the complainant for completing the registration process and issuing passbooks

Hyderabad: Banavath Srinivas Rao, who is Village Administration Officer (VAO) at the office of Mulakalapily Tahsildar in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, was caught red-handed by Khammam range unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday in connection with a bribe case.

He demanded Rs.20,000 and reduced the same to Rs.15,000 on the request of the complainant and received the same for showing an official favour for registration related to survey number 254/AA of Vemukunta village, measuring an extent of two acres and 30 guntas of land pertaining to the complainant.

Initially, Rao had demanded Rs.60,000 from the complainant for completing the registration process and issuing passbooks. On October 22, Rao received Rs.30,000 through Phonepay and Rs.10,000 in cash from the complainant.

The remaining Rs.20,000 was reduced to Rs.15.000, which Rao accepted today as a bribe. The tainted bribe amount of Rs.15,000 was recovered from the possession of Rao. The ACB officials said Rao performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

They said Rao was being arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases in Warangal. The details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons.
