Bhadradri-Kothagudem Police Curbed Maoists In 2025, Says Annual Report

District police arrested four prime accused, including one Area Committee Member (ACM) and three dalam members of the banned CPI (Maoist), in five major extremist-related cases during the year.

Nalgonda: Bhadradri-Kothagudem police effectively curbed Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the district during 2025, according to the Annual Crime Report-2025 released by police superintendent B. Rohit Raju.

District police arrested four prime accused, including one Area Committee Member (ACM) and three dalam members of the banned CPI (Maoist), in five major extremist-related cases during the year. Owing to the State government’s rehabilitation policy, as many as 326 members of the banned CPI (Maoist) surrendered before the police in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, which borders Chhattisgarh.

Those who surrendered included four Divisional Committee Members (DCMs), 22 Area Committee Members, 44 dalam members, nine militia commanders, five militia deputy commanders, two militia presidents, 104 militia members, two Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan (DAKMS) presidents and 37 DAKMS members. The list also included one Gram Raksha Dal (GRD) president and 20 GRD members, one KAMS member, three village committee presidents and 23 village committee members, two Krishi Vikas Committee presidents and two members, two Chaitanya Natya Mandali (CNM) presidents and 29 members, besides members of courier, art, doctor, jungle, nyayashaka (punishment) and sarkar committees of the banned outfit. However, overall crime in the district rose by 9.65 per cent in 2025, with 6,180 cases registered as against 5,636 cases in 2024. During the year, police seized about 5,707 kg of ganja worth Rs. 28.53 crore and arrested 221 ganja peddlers.
