Hyderabad: The sleuths of Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught Latchubukta Srinivas Rao, who is Irrigation department Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, red-handed when he demanded and accepted a bribe amount of Rs.2 lakh from the complainant.
The bribe was demanded at the office of the Deputy Executive Engineer, Irrigation Sub-Division-I in Aswaraopeta for doing an official favour for granting permission to excavate and transport soil from Donthikunta Tank.
The permission was sought for the land adjacent to the agricultural land of the complainant's uncle at Aswaraopeta village for filling pits in the agricultural land. The tainted bribe amount of Rs.2 lakh was recovered from Rao’s possession.
The ACB officials said Rao performed his official duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage and produced him before the special court for ACB cases in Warangal. The identity and details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons.
