Hyderabad:AP Rajya Sabha member and National BC Association president R. Krishnaiah warned that the Backward Classes (BCs) would launch an agitation against the Telangana government if it did not increase reservations for the community to 42 per cent in the upcoming local body elections.
Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi, Krishnaiah accused the Congress government of misleading the BC community by citing a 20-year-old Supreme Court verdict. He argued that the same court had lifted the reservation cap when it granted 10 per cent reservations to economically weaker sections in upper castes, proving that no such ceiling exists.
