Battini Suresh Appointed Principal Chief Commissioner of IT for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Suresh is a native of Guntur and pursued his BTech in VR Sidhartha Engineering College and MBA from NITIE (IIM, Mumbai) besides Master in Public Policy from University of Bristol, UK. He joined the Indian Revenue Service in 1991.

Hyderabad:Senior Telugu income-tax official Battini Suresh was appointed Principal Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Thursday. Suresh, presently Chief Commissioner, Hyderabad, and will replace M. Anil Kumar as head of the income-tax department for the two Telugu states.

Suresh is a native of Guntur and pursued his BTech in VR Sidhartha Engineering College and MBA from NITIE (IIM, Mumbai) besides Master in Public Policy from University of Bristol, UK. He joined the Indian Revenue Service in 1991.

After completing his training in the National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur, Suresh held field postings in different capacities at Bengaluru, Mysuru, Nagpur, Surat and Hyderabad. He also served in important positions particularly in investigation in Surat and Hyderabad. He held the post of member of dispute resolution panel in Hyderabad and was well known for his non-adversarial approach to resolving complex issues, according to a statement.

Tax payers and practitioners besides department officials were of the view that Suresh would bring in a wealth of expertise to his new role given his vast experience in administration, assessment and investigation.
