NALGONDA: Bars and restaurants remained shut on Monday in protest against a hike in privilege tax. The owners of the bars and restaurants also staged a protest at Bank Street in Suryapet.
Speaking on the occasion, Bar and Restaurants Association leader Guvva Krishna Reddy said that they had closed the bars and restaurants in Suryapet following the call given by the Telangana State Bars and Restaurants Association.
He reminded that the state government has increased the privilege cess from 10 per cent to 16 to 20 per cent. It has created financial losses to the owners of the bars and restaurants
He urged the state government to reduce the privilege tax on bars and restaurants to protect the industry from severe financial losses.
