Bandi Wants Karimnagar-Jagtial Expansion Works On Fast Track

Once the committee’s report is received, the tender process would be completed and work on the expansion project would begin shortly: Gadkari

KARIMNAGAR: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar met with Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday and submitted a representation urging the commencement of the long-pending Karimnagar-Jagtial road expansion project. He also discussed the release of Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) allocations for Telangana.

Sanjay Kumar reminded minister Gadkari that the Centre had already approved the four-lane expansion of the Karimnagar-Jagtial road at an estimated cost of ₹2,151.35 crore prior to the last Parliamentary elections. However, he noted that the tender process for the project had yet to begin. In response, Gadkari immediately summoned senior officials to inquire into the delay.

Officials explained that the project had been stalled due to public objections and legal issues, but confirmed that these hurdles have now been resolved and a revised report has been submitted to the relevant committee. Gadkari assured Sanjay Kumar that once the committee’s report is received, the tender process would be completed and work on the expansion project would begin shortly.

Following this discussion, Sanjay Kumar submitted another representation requesting the release of CRIF funds for various road projects in Telangana. He also submitted a proposal worth ₹113 crore specifically for his Karimnagar Parliamentary Constituency. Minister Gadkari responded positively and promised to take a quick decision regarding the release of CRIF funds for the state.
