Bandi Urges Youth To Rise Above Digital Distractions

Urging young people to place national interest above personal priorities, the minister said character and discipline were essential for nation-building: Reports

KARIMNAGAR: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday called upon the youth to move beyond digital distractions and focus on building strong willpower and character. He was speaking at the National Youth Day celebrations organised by Mera Yuva Bharat at Kalabharathi in Karimnagar.

Urging young people to place national interest above personal priorities, the minister said character and discipline were essential for nation-building. To mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, he distributed sports kits to local youth on the occasion.

Addressing students and young participants, Sanjay Kumar cautioned against becoming dependent on smartphones, online gaming, and substance abuse. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said, “Do not be one in a crowd; strive to be one in a hundred.” He encouraged youth to develop physical strength and mental resilience to fight injustice and contribute meaningfully to the country, adding that a smart mind was far more valuable than a smartphone.

He also appealed to youth to stay away from drugs and report drug peddlers to authorities, saying that living with pride as an Indian was the greatest tribute to Swami Vivekananda. Highlighting the Centre’s focus on youth empowerment under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, he said around 10 lakh government jobs had been provided on merit within a year and noted the role of the Startup India initiative in generating over 10 lakh direct jobs.

The event was attended by Pamela Satpathy, District Youth Officer Rambabu, District Sports Officer Srinivas, and others.
