Bandi Seeks Support of BJP in Municipal Polls After Inspecting ₹6.5 Crore Synthetic Stadium in Jammikunta
Sanjay Kumar assured that the tender process would be initiated shortly and that additional funds would be arranged if required

KARIMNAGAR: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday visited the Government Degree College in Jammikunta, Karimnagar district, and inspected the site earmarked for a proposed synthetic stadium to be built at a cost of ₹6.5 crore with funds sanctioned by the Central government. During the visit, the minister interacted with revenue officials and college staff and discussed the early commencement of works. He said the funds were sanctioned by the Modi government based on proposals submitted to Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Sanjay Kumar assured that the tender process would be initiated shortly and that additional funds would be arranged if required. He also raised concerns over land encroachments on the college premises and warned of strict action against those occupying government or private land illegally.
Highlighting continued Central support, the minister said that despite the BJP not being in power in the state or the local municipality, the Centre was consistently funding development projects. He noted that medical equipment worth ₹3 crore had recently been supplied to government hospitals in Huzurabad and Jammikunta.
He also announced plans to modernise the Jammikunta Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with upgrades on par with Karimnagar Railway Station. Appealing to voters ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, the minister urged people to support the BJP. He promised that if the BJP comes to power in the Jammikunta and Huzurabad municipalities, Naini Cheruvu would be developed into a major tourist attraction with boating and park facilities. He criticised the state government for what he termed a lack of funds and development, and asked voters to choose leaders capable of securing direct Central investment.
Touching upon a sensitive social issue, Sanjay Kumar referred to difficulties faced by tenant families when a member passes away, particularly instances where landlords do not permit the body to be brought inside the house. He said he would discuss the matter with the district collector and proposed allotment of land for a community hall, which he offered to construct using his MP funds to support grieving families.
