Bandi Sanjay Welcomes SIT Summons to KCR, KTR

He urged the Congress government to give investigators full freedom, speed up the probe, and expose those behind the conspiracy

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday welcomed the newly-formed special investigation team’s (SIT) decision to summon BRS leaders, including former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his son and former minister K.T. Rama Rao in the phone tapping case.

In a statement, Sanjay Kumar raised several questions over the progress of the probe into the issue by stating that summoning the BRS leaders by serving notices would not serve the purpose. He said serving notices to BRS leaders alone would not suffice.

The issue, he claimed, has dragged on like a TV serial, with one episode after another, but no real action to identify and punish the guilty in the phone-tapping case. This scandal has damaged the image of one of the country's top agencies — the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), which effectively handled Maoists and terrorists. Under SIB's cover during the BRS regime, contractors and political leaders faced harassment and extortion, he added.

Sanjay Kumar, who claims to be a victim himself, said senior leaders, businessmen, and even families suffered due to phone-tapping. Family conflicts arose, and "even their own daughter and son-in-law were not spared by those behind this dirty episode," he noted.

He urged the Congress government to give investigators full freedom, speed up the probe, and expose those behind the conspiracy.
