Bandi Accuses State of Diversion Tactics

He also accused the government of failing to utilise Central funds

KARIMNAGAR: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday alleged that the Telangana government was resorting to “CBI investigation dramas” to divert public attention from the BJP’s Assembly election success and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forthcoming public meeting in Secunderabad on May 10.

He questioned why the Revanth Reddy government had failed to act on the electricity purchase scam report submitted by Justice Madan B. Lokur more than a year ago, alleging behind‑the‑scenes negotiations between the Congress and BRS. He challenged the Chief Minister to admit his inability to arrest BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao and formally seek the Centre’s intervention.

Speaking to the media after inspecting the Khajipur grain procurement centre and interacting with farmers, Sanjay said the state was neglecting farmers while focusing on political theatrics. He claimed procurement was sluggish, with only 15 lakh metric tonnes of grain purchased against an expected 90 lakh metric tonnes, leaving farmers vulnerable to middlemen charging commissions for tokens.

Farmers complained of losses due to talu and tharugu (weight deductions), amounting to nearly ₹20,000 per farmer. Sanjay demanded speedy procurement, payment of MSP, and an end to arbitrary deductions. He also accused the government of failing to utilise Central funds, citing ₹205 crore meant for ST student fee reimbursements that had lapsed.

Earlier, furthering the Fit India initiative, the minister inaugurated open gyms in Kisannagar and Durshed under a ₹1‑crore CSR project and laid the foundation stone for CC road works worth ₹2 crore under MGNREGS at Kamanpur.
