Assembly Session To Commence on September 7

CM Revanth Directs MLAs To Expedite Land Acquisition for Irrigation Projects

HYDERABAD: The monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly will commence from September 7, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Monday. He made the announcement during a meeting with ministers, MPs, MLCs and MLAs at the Secretariat, where political developments in the state and preparations for the Assembly session were discussed.

Five ministers, five MPs, an MLC and 23 MLAs attended the meeting, which reportedly discussed the controversies surrounding minister Konda Surekha, senior Congress leader G. Chinna Reddy and Munugode MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, who had made adverse remarks against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, his family members and the Congress.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the ministers and MLAs to focus on the upcoming Monsoon Session and ensure that the ruling party was fully prepared to deal with the Opposition. He said the Opposition parties were likely to try to gain political mileage during the session by raising the controversies involving Surekha and other Congress leaders, and directed the treasury benches to come prepared to take on the Opposition effectively.

Revanth Reddy also directed the ministers and legislators to accelerate pending land acquisition works for irrigation projects in their respective Assembly constituencies. He said projects could never be completed if there was negligence in land acquisition.

The Chief Minister said the government was ready to immediately sanction funds required for land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) and forest clearances to facilitate the speedy completion of the projects. He directed the legislators to focus on the development of their respective constituencies and ensure that pending works were taken forward without delay.
