Asad Urges PM To Place Trade Restrictions On Israel

Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impose a ban on the import of goods produced in “illegal Israeli settlements” located in the occupied West Bank (Palestine) on the lines of stance taken by scores of western nations, to stop Israel’s expansion and to ensure a two state solution takes shape.
Owaisi said that the Union government should also take this step as soon as possible. “This will be an important decision to stop Israel's growing oppression,” he stated in his post on X.
“Britain has decided to impose a ban on the import of goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements located in the occupied West Bank. This step is due to the ongoing expansion of Israeli settlements and the escalating violent attacks by settlers against Palestinians. 11 other countries are also going to impose such a ban,” he added, tagging Prime Ministers on X.
On September 9, 12 Western countries, including France, and Canada jointly announced plans to restrict trade in goods originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The restrictions come in response to a surge in ‘settlement expansion’ and increasing ‘settler violence’, which they stated was actively undermining the feasibility of a two-state solution backed by the United Nations.
