Asad Urges CM To Intervene in 30-Yr Lease of Prime MWD Land

Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene, following the minority welfare department leasing out 5,220 sq. yards of prime property at Shaikpet, belonging to Urdu Academy to a private company for 30 years.
Asaduddin questioned the jurisdiction of minority welfare secretary B. Shafiullah for issuing a GO sanctioning the lease. “The secretary has no power to do so. Such a decision must be approved by the Chief Secretary after issuing a public notice and inviting suggestions and objections. This entire procedure has been bypassed. This order must be cancelled at the earliest,” the Hyderabad MP posted on X, by tagging the personal handle of Chief Minister.
The land under question is situated in Survey No. 29, of the Dargah Hussain Shah Wali village, Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district. This was leased to N N Infra and constructions, based in Hyderabad for a period of 30 years on BOT (Build Operate Transfer) basis for construction of Urdu-Ghar-cum-Shadikhana and commercial complex, as per the GO dated July 16.
According to locals, the land which was lying vacant for a long time has also attracted the attention of land sharks, which have kept the eye out for occupying it. Some of them also had removed and thrown away the several years old sign board of Urdu Academy. “The property is more than an acre and valued more than `100 crore, which is surprisingly not mentioned in the GO. How will this agreement benefit the Urdu Academy or the Urdu Language?” wondered Mohammed Habeebuddin, a Waqf activist.
